History
1957: Foundation of the Visp swimming pool cooperative
1962: Completion of construction work and commissioning of the Visp swimming pool
1978: Construction of the hot water pipeline from LONZA Werke, use of waste heat
1982: Construction of the slide (first water slide in Upper Valais)
1986: Renovation of the swimming pool and filter building
1990: Extension of the company building, extension of the kiosk and kitchen
1995: Takeover of the Mühleye campsite for rent from the municipality
1999: LONZA AG transfers its share certificate capital to the municipality of Visp free of charge, the municipality becomes a member of the cooperative with 1000 shares. The cooperative has 258 members with a total of 1934 share certificates with a nominal value of CHF 50.
2000: Preliminary project for the renovation of the swimming pool, study on value retention and the future of the Visp swimming pool
2003: Renovation and remodeling of the swimming pool and the filter and disinfection system (investment by the local authority)
2004: Facilities become the property of the municipality of Visp, the swimming pool cooperative remains responsible for operation
2004 – 2008: New construction of the changing rooms & showers for the swimming pool
2004: Relocation of the campsite and its facilities to the zone next to the swimming pool due to land reallocation in the Visp West residential area
2005- 2007; redesign of the swimming pool and camping entrance area
2012: New construction and commissioning of the entrance building with new kitchen, reception and garden restaurant for the swimming pool and campsite
2011 – 2015 New construction of the campsite sanitary building with showers, toilets, clothes and dishwashing station
2022: 60th anniversary of the swimming pool cooperative
2023: New construction of the sanitary building in the rear part of the campsite.
Special note on the history of the Visp baths:
The first president, Christoph Zinsstag, led the cooperative until 1990, i.e. for 43 years, followed by Werner Zollinger until 2000. The cooperative, which has now been in existence for 58 years, has only had 3 presidents.
